As a citizen living in the Schengen area you are provided with a Schengen visa which makes you able to travel and visit around all the countries inside the Schengen area without further formalities.

Romania, Croatia, Bulgaria and the UK weren’t willing to join the Schengen area, that means that there are border checks. However, the European citizen is able to visit those countries without any kind of problem, it’s enough with a papers check.
